New this year at Durand’s “End of Summer Cruisin’” Car Show! For the first time, spectators will be invited to choose a classic, sport, rod or historical vehicle to be awarded the “People’s Choice” Trophy. This will be in addition to the classic Top 40, Mayor’s Choice, 1987 and Newer and, of course, the Best in Show awards.

Also new this year: A model car contest, open to model car enthusiasts ranging in age from toddlers to senior citizens. Trophies will be awarded in three “People’s Choice” categories, to include Junior, Senior and Adults groups. Located in the former Citizens Bank Drive-Thru lot, the model car area will provide games and entertainment for the young and young at heart.

And if you like loud noises and the smell of burning rubber…..don’t miss the third annual “Burn-Out Contest” immediately after the 3pm car show awards ceremony. Follow the crowd (and the sound) to the corner of East Main and Hagel Streets for this growing attraction. Again this year the burn-out committee is building unique trophies for the top three winners, with additional prizes awarded to include a $100 gas card from Ed’s Standard.
